Growth Strategies and Yield Formation in Cereals

Our lab studies how natural genetic variation shapes the growth and development of cereals across environments. We combine quantitative genetics with concepts from ecology and evolutionary biology to understand how gene- environment interactions regulate phenotypic plasticity and yield formation in wheat and barley. Using diversity spanning wild relatives to elite cultivars, we aim to uncover the genetic and developmental mechanisms that limit crop productivity and reveal opportunities for improvement.
